Drivers Stuck in Traffic as Power Outage Prompts Road Closures Around Austin Airport

Traffic was backed up on a highway leading to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas on Wednesday, September 7, after a power outage grounded flights and prompted road closures.

Footage by Luke Fischer shows heavy traffic on Texas Highway 71. “Been in traffic for three hours trying to get to Austin Airport,” he wrote on Twitter.

Roadways to the terminal were partially reopened shortly before 9:30 am, according to the airport.
