Driver With Child in Car Collides With Lorry During Police Chase in Warwickshire

A driver who had a woman and 10-year-old child in his car has been jailed after a police chase ended with his vehicle colliding with a skip lorry in Bedworth, Warwickshire.

Warwickshire Police released footage of the incident, which it said occurred on November 23 last year, following the sentencing of Jake Ilsley on April 13.

Police said Ilsley pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, exposing a child to unnecessary suffering/injury, failing to stop and driving without insurance.

Ilsley, 26, of Hill Road, Kersley, was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment and disqualified from driving for four years and seven months, a statement said.

The Audi A3 driven by Isley collided with a skip lorry after driving into the path of oncoming traffic from Vicarage Lane in Bedworth. He had previously accelerated to speeds of over 80mph in an attempt to escape arrest after seeing a marked police vehicle, police said.

The Warwickshire Police statement said the woman and child sustained only minor injuries and Ilsley was apprehended after attempting to flee the scene. Credit: Warwickshire Police via Storyful
