DPM Zahid confirms special aide Ramesh Rao died this morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 — Ramesh Rao, the special aide to Deputy Prime I Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, was announced to have died this morning at age 52.

National news agency Bernama tweeted that he died from a heart attack.

Ramesh was president of a local non-government organisation Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin and was appointed a special officer last month.

He was tasked to be in charge of ethnic Indian affairs.

“With sadness, I, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, wish to convey our condolence to the family of the late Ramesh Rao a/l Krishna Naidu, special officer who died early this morning on Saturday, 14 January 2023,” Zahid said in a brief statement.

“I appreciate his contributions to the community and the country while he was in service,” he added.

Zahid is also the rural and regional development minister.
