Western European Dota 2 powerhouse Team Secret announced their new roster for the Spring Tour of the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season on Saturday (11 March), with Filipino midlaner Armel "Armel" Tabios and Russian position 4 support Daniyal "yamich" Lazebnyy replacing Roman "Resolut1on" Fominok and Bakyt "Zayac" Emilzhanov.

The roster change comes after an abysmal showing in the 2023 DPC's Winter Tour for Secret, where they were relegated to Division II of the Western European regional league a mere three months after they finished second in The International 11 (TI11).

Secret's abysmal showing notably came after they lost superstar midlaner Michał "Nisha" Jankowski to Team Liquid. Miroslav "BOOM" Bičan came in as Nisha's replacement, though the team's results indicate he was unable to replicate his predecessor's massive impact.

Prior to announcing their signing of Armel and yamich, Secret placed Resolut1on and Zayac on their inactive roster last Tuesday (7 March) to facilitate their transfer to a new team.

Armel will notably be taking over as Secret's midlaner, with BOOM shiffing to the offlane role.

Armel last played for Southeast Asian powerhouse Fnatic but became a free agent in February after Fnatic disbanded its Southeast Asian team and left the Dota 2 esports scene.

The Filipino midlaner is the latest in a line of Southeast Asian stars to move to the West and play for big-name teams, like Abed "Abed" Yusop and Daryl "iceiceice" Koh before him.

Meanwhile, yamich last played for Eastern European organisation Virtus.pro (VP) in the 2021-2022 DPC season, parting ways with the team last December.

Secret captain Clement "Puppey" Ivanov had a lot of good things to say about his new players, calling them the "right tools to get back into the shape our fans want to see us in."

"Armel has been a dominant midlaner his whole career. He will bring a strong x-factor to the team since he comes from a different region. I believe he is hungry for success and will achieve it with us," Puppey said of Armel.

"Yamich is a young Dota player who has not yet achieved his success and I hope to make it a reality. I have great confidence that he has the capabilities of being a star player," Secret's captain commented on yamich.

Armel and yamich will be looking to help Secret get back to Division I in the Division II Spring Tour regional league for Western Europe, which is scheduled from 4 to 25 April.
