Western European Dota 2 powerhouse OG announced on Tuesday (7 March) that team captain Mikhail "Misha" Agatov and coach Evgenii "Chu" Makarov will be swapping roles in the active roster ahead of the Spring Tour of the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season.

The role swap comes after a middling performance from OG during this season's Winter Tour, where they only placed fifth in the Western European regional league and missed out on the Dota 2 Lima Major. The Major was notably won by Gaimin Gladiators, one of OG's biggest regional rivals.

With the swap, Misha will be returning to the coaching role he had when he first joined OG in September 2021. He was unveiled as team captain for OG's overhauled roster for the 2022 DPC season.

Misha was notably forced to return to coaching OG in two of their biggest victories last season due to visa issues.

OG won the ESL One Stockholm Major with Sébastien "Ceb" Debs and ESL One Malaysia 2022 with Chu as stand-ins for Misha.

Misha said in a statement that returning to the coaching role "makes me more impactful and happy."

"I did not feel like I was able to transform all of this into the game, either with calls or personal plays. I thought a lot about it, and could not ignore the moments when I coached before. I enjoyed it so much, and I felt like all my Dota knowledge was used to 100%," said Misha.

"I feel like we will be much stronger if I can help structure the practice process, talk about how to improve the game, help the team take of drafts, etc."

OG's retooled roster with Chu will be competing in the Division I Spring Tour regional league for Western Europe, which will take place from 12 March to 2 April.

Many other teams in the DPC have also retooled their rosters ahead of the Spring Tour. In Southeast Asia, Bleed Esports recently announced the additions of Djardel "DJ" Mampusti and Daryl "iceiceice" Koh.

New OG Dota 2 roster:

  1. Artem "Yuragi" Golubiev

  2. Bozhidar "bzm" Bogdanov

  3. Dmitry "DM" Dorokhin

  4. Tommy "Taige" Le

  5. Evgenii "Chu" Makarov

  6. Mikhail "Misha" Agatov (coach)
