Western European Dota 2 powerhouse Team Secret announced on Wednesday (8 August) that they have parted ways with Singaporean offlaner Daryl "iceiceice" Koh Pei Xiang and welcomed Ukrainian offlaner Roman "Resolut1on" Fomynok as his replacement.

Iceiceice's departure from Secret comes another disappointing showing for the squad in the 2021-2022 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Summer Tour regional league.

There they finished in 5th place — their third such placement this season — and thus failed to qualify for a spot in the upcoming PGL Arlington Major and a direct invite to The International 11 (TI11).

This also marks the third roster change for Secret this season after it started with Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan, Michał "Nisha" Jankowski, iceiceice, Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat, and Clement "Puppey" Ivanov on the squad.

SumaiL left the team in May and was replaced by Remco "Crystalis" Arets. YapzOr was then replaced by Baqyt "Zayac" Emiljanov after he had to take an extended break due to health reasons.

"It's a tough decision to make but today we say goodbye to iceiceice. Thank you for your time with the squad, we wish you the best in the future," Secret said in their announcement of iceiceice's departure.

Resolut1on will be taking over iceiceice's role as Secret's offlaner following a commendable showing as the team's stand-in during the Riyadh Masters 2022 last month.

There, Resolut1on helped Secret to a tournament-best 7-1 record in the group stage and a 3rd-4th place finish.

Prior to joining Secret, Resolut1on played for Eastern European team HellRaisers in the 2021 DPC season.

Secret will make its debut with Resolut1on as their official offlaner in ESL One Malaysia 2022, which will take place from 23 to 28 August.

After that, Secret will be looking to earn their place in TI11 through the regional qualifiers, which are expected to take place in September.

Should Secret fail to win the qualifier but still manage to place 2nd or 3rd, they will get another chance to qualify for TI11 through the new Last Chance Qualifier.

Should Secret fail to qualify for TI11, it will break a historic streak in competitive Dota 2. Team captain Puppey is the only player to have played in every single iteration of the event.

Puppey won the first-ever TI back in 2011 with Natus Vincere (Na'Vi) and appeared in the finals of TI2 and TI3 in 2012 and 2013, respectively. He appeared in his last TI with Na'Vi in 2014's TI4, where they finished in 7th-8th place.

Puppey has since appeared in every TI as the captain of Team Secret, notably leading the organisation to a third place finish in TI10 — their best placement in the tournament yet.

TI11 will take place in Singapore and will be hosted across 23 days from 8 to 30 October.

  4. Baqyt "Zayac" Emiljanov

  5. Clement "Puppey" Ivanov

  6. Lee "Heen" Seung Gon (coach)
