Dota 2 BetBoom Dacha Dubai: Xtreme cruise to the top of the pack, Aurora and VP first to be eliminated
Xtreme Gaming have been the most dominant squad of the tournament so far, sitting comfortably atop the standings in Group B with a 7-1 record.
Things are heating up in BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024, the first big Dota 2 tournament of the year, as the Group Stage heads to its final day. Chinese powerhouse Xtreme Gaming have cruised to the top of the standings and are among the six teams that already secured Playoff spots while Southeast Asia's Aurora and Eastern Europe's Virtus.pro became the first two squads to be eliminated.
Here's how things stand heading into the final day of the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 Group Stage:
Aurora, VP first to be eliminated as Group A settles Playoff seeding
Things have largely been settled in Group A as Aurora and VP head to early exits while Gaimin Gladiators, LGD Gaming, Team Falcons, and Team Liquid have all qualified for Playoffs and will only be fighting for seeding.
Aurora and VP notably opened the action in Group A, splitting their series 1-1, then only won one more game to eventually get eliminated with 2-6 records apiece as of day four of the Group Stage.
Aside from their draw with VP, Aurora only managed another 1-1 draw with Liquid and got swept by Gaimin Gladiators and LGD. Meanwhile, VP only wins came against 1-1 ties with Aurora and LGD against 0-2 losses against Liquid and Falcons.
Meanwhile, Gaimin Gladiators, LGD, Falcons, and Liquid are all tied at 5-3 and will all be spending the final day of the Group Stage fighting for better seeding in the Playoffs.
Gaimin Gladiators and Falcons are expected to claim the top two seeds as their last matches will be against VP and Aurora, respectively. On the other hand, Liquid and LGD are expected to be in a hard-fought matchup that is likely to end in a 1-1 tie that will give them both the third and fourth seeds of Group A.
Xtreme Gaming lead the pack in Group B
There's still a lot at stake in the final day of Group Stage action in Group B. Four teams will be fighting for the two remaining Playoff spots for the group after the first two slots were claimed by ascendant Chinese powerhouse Xtreme Gaming and reigning The International (TI) champions Team Spirit.
Xtreme have been the most dominant squad of the tournament so far, sitting comfortably atop the standings in Group B with a 7-1 record. Their only loss came in a 1-1 tie with Spirit but they have soundly swept BetBoom, OG, and Azure Ray.
Spirit are in second place with a 5-3 record off 1-1 ties with Xtreme, BetBoom, and Azure Ray along with a 2-0 sweep over Nouns.
Meanwhile, Azure Ray and BetBoom are tied in third place both with 5-3 records while Nouns and OG are facing an uphill battle for a spot in the Playoffs after only managing 2-6 records apiece.
Azure Ray and BetBoom will be facing off in the pivotal match of the last day of Group Stage action for Group B.
Should one team manage to win the match 2-0, the winner will be guaranteed a spot in the Playoffs while the loser may be in danger of getting upset by OG or Nouns.
OG and Nouns will have to score a 2-0 upset over Spirit and Xtreme, respectively, in order to even have a chance of sniffing the Playoffs. Anything less than a 2-0 win will mean an early exit for OG and Nouns while Azure Ray and BetBoom head safely to the Playoffs.
