Dota 2 BetBoom Dacha Dubai: Falcons, BetBoom make Top 3 while Gaimin Gladiators, Azure Ray fall to lower bracket
Team Falcons and BetBoom Team have guaranteed themselves at least US$100,000 in winnings and will soon clash for the first spot in the Grand Finals.
The competition is heating up in the Dota 2 BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 as two teams have advanced into the Top 3 after the third day of the Playoffs.
Team Falcons and BetBoom Team are through to the upper bracket finals after they defeated Azure Ray and Gaimin Gladiators, respectively, in the upper bracket semifinals. With their victories, Falcons and BetBoom have guaranteed themselves at least US$100,000 in winnings and will soon clash for the first spot in the Grand Finals.
Here's how all the matches in day three of the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 Playoffs went down:
BetBoom Team 2-0 Gaimin Gladiators
BetBoom kicked the day off with a massive 2-0 upset over Gaimin Gladiators, who were coming off a 2-0 stomp over China's LGD Gaming in the opening day of the Playoffs.
BetBoom came out swinging to start the series by taking an easy 27-minute win behind stellar performances from Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko on Medusa and Danil "gpk" Skutin on Storm Spirit. Nightfall paced his team's lopsided 34-7 kill lead with a clean 11 kills and 14 assists while gpk put up 10 kills and 14 assists on just one death.
Gaimin Gladiators put up a better fight in game two, managing to draw things out to a 73-minute grinder before ultimately conceding the series. Nightfall on Naga Siren and gpk on Puck once again led the way for BetBoom, who ended the game up 38-17 in kills and almost 60,000 gold in net worth.
Nightfall racked up 11 kills and 18 assists on one death, gpk had 11 kills and 22 assists on three deaths, while Matvey "MieRo`" Vasyunin on Timbersaw pitched in with nine kills and 20 assists on four deaths.
Team Falcons 2-1 Azure Ray
The second match of the day saw Falcons overcome Azure Ray in three games where they handily lost game one before stomping the next two games to claim the series victory.
Lou "Lou" Zhen on Luna and Zeng "Ori" Jiaoyang on Storm Spirit led the way for Azure Ray in the 36-minute opener, combining for 17 kills and 23 assists on five deaths (four of which were on Lou) out of the team's 26-14 kill lead.
Falcons struck back hard in game two, tying up the series by stomping Azure Ray to the tune of a 31-4 kill lead in 38 minutes of action. Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf led the way on Razor with a clean nine kills and 11 assists while Oliver "skiter" Lepko on a carry Dragon Knight added eight kills and 10 assists on one death.
Falcons continued rolling in the 31-minute series decider, this time with Stanislav "Malr1ne" Potorak on a mid Razor leading the way with 15 kills and seven assists on one death to pace his team's 30-19 kill lead. Skiter on Sven and Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen on Hoodwink also had seven kills apiece and a combined 21 assists against one death for skiter and five for Cr1t.
With the day's results, Team Falcons and BetBoom Team have guaranteed themselves at least a third place finish as well as US$100,000 in winnings. They will be facing off in the upper bracket finals on Thursday (15 February) for the first spot in the Grand Finals.
Meanwhile, Azure Ray and Gaimin Gladiators will have to avoid elimination in the lower bracket quarterfinals. Azure Ray will be taking on reigning The International (TI) champions Team Spirit while Gaimin Gladiators will face off against a very familiar foe in Team Liquid.
With the dissolution of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) last year, the 2024 Dota 2 esports season will see a return to third-party tournaments being the main form of competition across the title.
BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 will kick off the 2024 season from 4 to 16 February in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and will feature 12 of the best Dota 2 teams from across the world fight for the lion's share of a US$1 million prize pool.
