Dota 2: Alliance drop Leslao and Supream^ as rebuild continues

After an abysmal showing in the Winter Tour of the 2021-2022 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season, Alliance are pivoting towards a rebuild with the release of offlaner Rodrigo "Leslão" Santos and midlaner Ondřej "Supream^" Štarha on Saturday (29 January).

Leslão and Supream^ joined Alliance alongside position 4 support player Adam "Aramis" Moroz last November following the team's 9th-12th place finish in The International 10 (TI10) and the subsequent departures of Linus "Limmp" Blomdin, Artsiom "fng" Barshak, and Gustav "s4" Magnusson.

Alliance struggled mightily in Division I of the Western European regional league, finishing the Winter Tour with a 1-6 record and getting demoted to Division II for the Spring Tour.

The team were quick to make changes following the disappointing result, as they dropped position 5 support Simon "Handsken" Haag and coach Niklas "okcya" Koskinen.

The entire organisation seemed rattled as well, with CEO Jonathan "Loda" Berg even taking to Twitter to ask the Dota 2 community for advice on what to do next.

With Aramis and team cornerstone Nikolay "Nikobaby" Nikolov the only ones remaining on the roster, Loda and Alliance are now dead set towards a rebuild. The organisation said in a statement that "it was clear changes needed to be done."

"[Leslão and Supream^] worked hard with the rest of the team to get the synergy going and the results to show up. However, after a rough first DPC season of 2022, decisions were made to move forward with different players," added Alliance.

"Alliance are always striving to be the best, and [are] not shy of making adjustments to make that happen."

Alliance will play in Division II of the Western European regional league for the Spring Tour, which will kick off in March following the Winter Tour Regional Finals in mid-February.

Alliance are still in need of a new midlaner, offlaner, and position 5 support for the Spring Tour.

While the team has officially listed franchise stalwart Henrik "AdmiralBulldog" Ahnberg as a substitute, the TI3 champion-turned-streamer is not expected to officially join the main roster.
