Is Donald Trump actually going to pardon Joe Exotic?

Although it somehow feels like it's been seventy-four years since the Netflix documentary series Tiger King captivated the world, it's actually only been ten months. Serving a slightly longer stretch of time though (nice transition there, right?) is the show's leading man, Joe Exotic, who was convicted of animal abuse and murder for hire charges against Carole Baskin in April 2019 and is currently living out a 22 year prison sentence... Or is he?

Today is the penultimate day Donald Trump will serve as President of the United States, before Joe Biden moves into the White House, and many are speculating that he will use his final day in power to pardon the big cat lover. In fact, it's reported that Exotic's legal team, spearheaded by Eric Love, are so confident Trump will issue Exotic his freedom that they've already got a limo ready to collect him from FMC Prison in Fort Worth, Texas.

"We call it the exit plan, we're exiting from FMC, from incarceration," Love told The Sun, when describing the release day blueprint he has in store for Exotic – which not includes a fancy car, but hair, wardrobe and make-up. "The exit plan will be initiated by me... The limo service, Josh Roman of Heaven on Wheels in Dallas, and we have hair, make-up and wardrobe specialist, Will Smith out of east Texas [on standby]."

Love added, "The limo will go straight to 800 West Weatherford Street, to the law office, we'll pick up members there... they'll go out and sit until the gate is released... Once he's picked up we are not going to have any cameras with us, it'll be a private moment."

He also described Exotic as "flamboyant" and a "colourful personality", but noted that he likely wouldn't look the same as when he first entered into prison. "Joe's gotta have that platinum done, that's why we've got hair, wardrobe and make-up. We've got the best in the business."

Obviously nothing has been remotely confirmed but hey, stranger things have happened (see: the entire year of 2020 for details)... And after all, Trump did once say when asked by a reporter if he'd consider pardoning Exotic, "Are you on his side? Are you recommending a pardon? I’ll take a look."
