Don’t join #Kitalawan gathering tomorrow, public urged – Bernama

Police is warning the public against taking part in the #KitaLawan gathering to be held tomorrow in Kuala Lumpur as the organisers did not seek the approval of the police.

Dang Wangi District Police chief ACP Zainol Samah said no application had been received from the organisers to hold the gathering at the Sogo Shopping Complex, in accordance with the law.

"Anybody who is involved with the illegal gathering can be acted against under Section 143 of the Penal Code," he told Bernama when contacted.

The gathering is expected to take place tomorrow to express support for opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

On February 10, the Federal Court rejected Anwar's appeal and retained his conviction and five years jail for sodomising his former personal assistant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan on June 26, 2008.

Anwar is now being detained at the Sungai Buloh Prison in Selangor. – Bernama, February 27, 2015.
