An excited group of whale watchers got an up-close encounter with a pod of humpback whales, and some attendant dolphins, off the southern Irish coast on June 8, in a fitting way to mark World Oceans Day.
Irish politician Holly Cairns shared footage showing the whales and dolphins breaching the water close to a touring boat sailing between Courtmacsherry and Galley Head, in County Cork.
“I celebrated #WorldOceansDay on the #WestCork coast today. I have no words, so you have to watch,” Cairns wrote on Twitter. Credit: Holly Cairns via Storyful
