Dog Rescued From Bridge 120 Feet Above Mississippi River

A bridge inspector working on a span connecting Natchez, Mississippi, and Vidalia, Louisiana, stepped in to rescue a dog stranded 120 feet above the Mississippi River on September 20, according to reports.

This footage, shared by the bridge-design company Stantec, shows employee Ryan Nataluk handing the “hound dog” to a police officer while balanced on the westbound Natchez-Vidalia Bridge on US Route 84.

Nataluk, who is the team’s lead climber and rescue technician, lifted the dog to safety after checking her for injuries and making a harness out of rope, the company said on Instagram.

“No one is sure how she ended up down there, but this heartwarming rescue story proves that not all heroes wear capes,” Stantec said.

Local news reports said Natchez police officers took the dog into their care over the weekend. Credit: Stantec via Storyful
