The funerary temple of Queen Neit was also discovered near the pyramid of her husband, King Teti of Egypt's 6th dynasty which dates back 4200 years, said famed archaeologist Zahi Hawass, who headed the archaeological mission. The coffins, or sarcophagi, include the first dating back to the New Kingdom to be found at Saqqara, a UNESCO world heritage site that is home to the Step Pyramid, the tourism and antiquities ministry said in a statement.

President-elect Joe Biden's goal of delivering 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine within the first 100 days of his presidency "is absolutely a doable thing," Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on Sunday. Fauci, speaking on NBC's "Meet The Press", said two new vaccines under development by AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson could "very soon" be presented to U.S. regulators for approval, which would increase the pace of vaccinations. He said more vaccinations - coupled with mask-wearing and avoiding crowds - would be the best way for the United States to tackle a new, more infectious strain of the coronavirus.

Joe Biden aims to hit the ground running with a blizzard of executive orders on his first day in office. Mr Biden plans to rejoin the Paris climate accord, end Donald Trump’s travel ban on several predominantly Muslim countries and order masks to be worn in federal buildings. The orders will represent the opening salvo of a flurry of activity over the first 10 days of the Biden administration, aimed at rolling back many of the policies introduced by Donald Trump. Mr Biden intends to introduce legislation for a $1.9 trillion relief package and immigration reform. His ambitious programme was outlined in a memorandum circulated on Saturday by Ron Klain, the incoming White House chief of staff. "During the campaign, President-elect Biden pledged to take immediate action to start addressing these crises and build back better," Mr Klain wrote. "As president, he will keep those promises and sign dozens of executive orders, presidential memoranda, and directives to Cabinet agencies in fulfilment of the promises he made." The 78-year-old incoming president will assume office with the country reeling from the coronavirus pandemic which has already claimed more than 395,000 lives and devastated the economy with 7.3 million people looking for work. A wave of lockdowns as the pandemic surged in recent months has seen millions more struggling as their working hours have been cut.
Guatemalan security forces used sticks to beat back a migrant caravan early on Sunday after thousands of people set off from Honduras for the United States this week, just as President-elect Joe Biden prepares to enter the White House. Between 7,000 and 8,000 migrants have entered Guatemala since Friday, according to Guatemala's immigration authority, fleeing poverty and violence in a region hammered by the coronavirus pandemic and back-to-back hurricanes in November. However, around 3,000 Guatemalan security officials mustered in the village of Vado Hondo in eastern Guatemala to hold up the caravan, leading to the clashes on Sunday morning.
Travellers could face GPS tracking in a bid to crackdown on breaches of quarantine, Dominic Raab indicated on Sunday. The Foreign Secretary refused to rule out the use of GPS data to establish if people were staying at the address they put on their locator form when they entered the UK. He also confirmed that the Government was considering quarantine hotels where travellers would be required to stay and pick up the bill, as happens with New Zealand’s policy of “directed isolation” and Australia where arrivals self-isolating are charged between £1,500 and £2,500. The move follows Boris Johnson’s announcement last week scrapping travel corridors to 63 countries, which means every arrival – apart from exemptions such as hauliers – will have to quarantine for up to 10 days and, from Monday, provide a negative Covid test taken within 72 hours of their departure.

Spector produced 20 top 40 hits between 1961 and 1965 and went on to work with the Beatles, the Righteous Brothers and Ike and Tina Turner.

The name of an English nobleman should be removed from a housing development because he led wars against the Welsh, nationalists have said. A new development in Caerphilly, south Wales, will be named after Gilbert De Clare, who built a castle in the town to keep the Welsh under his control. De Clare gardens will be built by Redrow homes who have said they used it because they are "proud of their Welsh heritage. However, local residents have said the name is an "insult" as the man oppressed the Welsh. Englishman Lord De Clare led wars against the Welsh - and the massacre of 500 Jews at Canterbury in 1265. He is also said to have insisted on leading an attack on South Wales during Edward I's invasion of the country in the 13th century. However, he was stripped of his position of commander after a devastating defeat near Llandeilo, south Wales. Caerphilly Councillor Lindsay Whittle said: "Gilbert De Clare built Caerphilly Castle in the 13th century. An ally of Henry III, he had the castle constructed to keep the unruly Welsh people down. "He is also said to have led the massacre of the Jews at Canterbury, hardly the sort of person you should be naming a development after. "I'm very surprised that a house-builder with its headquarters in Wales should show such insensitivity. Didn't someone at Redrow do some research on De Clare? "To give this part of Caerphilly this name is also a total insult to the campaigners who fought Redrow. It gives an impression of Redrow showing contempt for local public opinion." Cllr Whittle has called on Redrow to scrap the proposed name and discuss a more suitable one with the local community which better reflected modern Wales. Penyrheol, Trecenydd and Energlyn Community Council has voted to lodge an official objection to the name De Clare Gardens, a Redrow scheme in Hendredenny, Caerphilly Redrow insist the name is a temporary working name and the council will be consulted over the permanent naming of the site upon completion. Beverley Wookey, sales director for Redrow in south Wales, said: "As a company headquarted in Wales, we are very proud of our Welsh heritage. "We choose the temporary working names of our sites to reflect the history and landmarks of local communities. "This site has been temporarily named after Gilbert De Clare as he built Caerphilly Castle in the 13th century, a fantastic asset for the local community and a popular heritage attraction. "As with all of our developments, the local authority will have responsibility for naming streets once we have finished on-site, and the temporary development name no longer exists." This is the latest objection to having a building named after a controversial historic figure. The Black Lives Matter movement has led to multiple places named after slave traders and other famous names with chequered pasts to be renamed.
