As many food and beverage businesses adapt to the new world of social distancing guidelines amid the COVID-19 pandemic, one Maryland winery has found a very unique solution to get wine into customers' hands safely...and his name is Soda the dog.
Stone House Urban Winery in Hagerstown, MD, is currently going viral thanks to some adorable photos of their delivery dog Soda who brings wine bottles out to customers as a sort of no-contact delivery, according to WJLA.
Here's how it works: Customers call in their order and wait in the parking lot as Soda, a brindle boxer, carries them out up to two bottles of wine to their car via a little saddle bag on his back. It's truly the cutest thing in the world to watch and the customers seem to love it too.
“We’ve had people call in just specifically to have soda pup bring wine out to them. people who have never even been here before,” Owner Lori Yata said.
Lori also assured that the 11-year-old pup gets plenty of breaks and treats for all of his hard work. It's also important to note that the CDC believes pets are generally low risk for transmitting the virus (though you should always wash your hands before and after going outside whether you're interacting with adorable dogs or not!).
