KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 — A man in Kuala Lumpur is appealing to the owner of a dog found 'abandoned' at a hiking trail to take the animal back.

Ady Budika said he stumbled upon the dog seeking shelter at a hut, while hiking at Bukit Kerinchi last week.

"The dog looked like it was waiting for someone. I met fellow hiking aunties who informed me that the dog turned up near Bukit Kerinchi recently. They said it was possible the dog had been abandoned by its owner."

"The dog only sits in the hut. Wherever it goes, it will return to the hut. From its expression, it looks like it is waiting for someone. It would also look at the faces of each passing hiker," mStar quoted the 38-year-old unit trust consultant as saying.

Feeling pity for the dog, christened Marshmallow, he went home to bring food and water to feed it.

"Till today, I still hike almost daily to feed it. I pitied the dog, that is why I was willing to hike just to see it."

Ady also made a clip and shared it on TikTok showing other animal lovers how to reach Marshmallow.

Since then, fellow hikers had been leaving food for Marshmallow after the clip went viral.

He urged pet owners not to abandon their pets indiscriminately.

"Try to find someone to look after them or hand them over to shelters," he said.
