KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 — For veteran singer Datuk ND Lala and Datin Fauziah Sarman, divorce is the only way out as the couple had been constantly bickering prior to their separation.

Their daughter singer Shila Amzah said her parents had tried salvaging their 34-year marriage but to no avail, mStar reported.

Speaking during a TikTok livestream with her husband Ubai on Wednesday, Shila said she could not force her parents to continue staying together due to domestic problems faced by them previously.

“Do not worry about my mother, pray for the best. As in the end, people wanting to marry, divorce, it’s all fate,” said Shila, hoping that the divorce would bring happiness to her parents.

The 33-year-old, who is the eldest of four siblings, said it was up to her parents what they wanted to do with their lives now.

“Up to them if they want to look for their own happiness. Go ahead and look for it,” added Shila, whose full name is Nurshahila Amir Amzah.

Shila also said she and her siblings were saddened their parents chose to divorce.

She, however, believed it was the best way out as both parties had tried to save the union.

Meanwhile, Ubai urged people to pray for his in-laws’ happiness.

“They need the support of their children and the people. Support and pray for them,” said Ubai, whose full name is Ubaidillah Mohd Zulkefli.

Fauziah had revealed via a post on her Instagram on Wednesday morning that ND or his real name Amir Amzah Salleh had divorced her via WhatsApp on Tuesday.

The veteran entertainer was said to have pronounced the divorce at Masjid Ar Rahman, Bangsar on August 2 but Fauziah was only informed on Tuesday.
