What Is Diva Week? An Astrologist Weighs in On the Significance of These Famous Aries Birthdays
Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga and Celine Dion are all members of the internet-celebrated week
March 23 marks the official beginning of Diva Week — a week invented by the internet (but which should be internationally recognized) commemorating the birthdays of some of the most iconic singers of our time.
Queen of Funk Chaka Khan kicks off Diva Week, with her birthday landing on March 23. Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross and Mariah Carey then follow, with their birthdays (or anniversaries, as Mariah would prefer), falling on March 25, 26 and 27 respectively. Other fans have also come to acknowledge Lady Gaga, born March 28, and Celine Dion, born March 30, as members of Diva Week as well.
So what cosmic forces led to six of the greatest singers of all time having birthdays with seven days of one another? We tapped Psychic Saba, premier astrology expert and psychic advisor with California Psychics, to break down how the stars influence the divas of Diva Week.

Aries Are Natural-Born Leaders
According to Saba, the fact that these divas are top of the pack when it comes to their industry shouldn't come as a surprise, as the mere fact that they're Aries means they have an innate penchant for leadership.
"Aries women are fiery, bold, and built to lead," she tells PEOPLE. "And Aries is the official first sign of the zodiac. They were born to lead. Also, Aretha, Chaka and Mariah all have a Cancer moon — which makes them action-oriented."
Aries Have a High Standard of Excellence
From writing and producing their own songs to playing multiple instruments to ensuring the mic is on when singing live, no one takes musicianship more seriously than the divas. Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, and Diana Ross have all been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Mariah Carey is a nominee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022.
That penchant for greatness is owed, once again, to the fact that they're Aries.

"Their respect for greatness has to do with the fact that they are the first sign of the zodiac. They're the big sisters of everybody. So if you're the eldest child ... [it's like] 'Well, I'm first and I'm here and I have to set the standard,'" says Psychic Saba. "Excellence is the standard when you're first, [Aries are] number one for a reason."
Aries Are the Queens of Throwing Shade
If you know one thing about Aretha Franklin, you know that she was never one to mince her words and the same can be said about her Aries compatriots. And though each diva has a way of addressing the naysayers and critics when all is said and done, they make sure their opposition knows exactly where they stand.
Part of that is due to the fiery Aries spirit but also some of the Scorpio energy lingering in their charts. "That Scorpio energy, especially for Aretha, is about, I don't want to say revenge, but if you know anything about Scorpio energy, it's all about having the last word," Saba explains.
"You're not going to outdo a Scorpio," she continues. "I don't care if it takes five years, I don't care if it's 20 years from now. If there is a grudge to be held, they're going to hold it."

Aries Innately Attract a Lot of Attention
Saba also says that the fact that these singers are governed by Mars not only makes them fierce, but it naturally makes them the center of attention.
"All eyes have to be on them," she explained. They make fashion statements, they lead movements. They want to be seen." Lady Gaga's 2010 MTV VMAs meat dress; Khan's signature fiery red hair; Diana Ross' luscious hair; Franklin's famous furs; Celine Dion's interview quirks and Mimi's signature whistle-note.
"That is the energy that governs this week," Saba explains. "[It's] about standing out and being number one."
And while all the divas all attract attention where they go, Saba points out Diana Ross' story as the prime example.
"Diana Ross is actually the one with the most unique chart because the rest of them have the Scorpio rising, they have the Cancer moons. Diana has a very fixed chart," Saba explains.
She continues, "Her energy is very fixed. So when you look at Diana and you look at how things ascended for her and how she was the front runner — she may not have been the best singer, she may not have been the most voluptuous, she may not have been the one who everybody expected to be the diva, but she ended up being the diva."
Aries May Have a Hard Time Finding a Love Match
Céline Dion was married to her late husband René Angélil from 1994 until his death in 2016, but her long love story is the outlier among her diva Aries compatriots.
In her Gaga: Five Foot Two Netflix documentary, Mother Monster admitted that amassing success to the level she has continuously proved to be a hindrance to her love life. "Me and Taylor are fighting, so that sucks,” she said in the 2017 film, of her relationship with Chicago Fire star and ex-fiancé Taylor Kinney. “My threshold for bulls--- with men is just — I don’t have one anymore. In relationships, you have to move together.”
She continued assessing the impact success had on past relationships: “My love life has just imploded. I sold 10 million [records] and lost Matt [Williams]. I sold 30 million and lost Lüc [Carl]. I did a movie and lose Taylor. It’s like a turnover. This is the third time I’ve had my heart broken like this."
Khan has been married three times, and in the past has expressed similar sentiments to Lady Gaga. She told The Daily Mail back in 2014, "Being in a relationship [is my biggest fear], because it renders one so helpless. You’re so vulnerable. I don’t know if I’m ready for that to happen again," she admitted.
"Being in a couple is a lot of work. No man in his right mind would want to be married to someone like me," she said. "I can understand that. I’ve tried it a couple of times, and I get it. I can’t even have a pet."
Carey has had a tumultuous romantic history as well, and Diana Ross was married twice and had an affair with Smokey Robinson.
So what gives? According to Saba, when you're as fiery and as fierce as these divas, you need someone who can either match your energy without creating chaos — or someone who can cool you down.
"I think that when it comes to these fire signs, that fire is intensified because of their Venus (which is in charge of love) or because of their Saturn (partially in charge of ambition, discipline, wealth). They might have a fixed sign like Taurus [ruling those] and it's very hard for them to find balance within that."
Saba says they're better suited with mates who are either Libras because they're "more balanced," or Capricorns because "that's the captain, that's somebody who is very stable, calm." (To her point, Angélil was a Capricorn.)
They Are Nurturing and Protective Mothers
Though they may not all have found everlasting romantic partnerships, almost all of these divas have ventured into motherhood with great passion.
That devotion to family, the patience and protection the divas show to their babies is very much anchored in the stars.
"I would say their fifth house governs motherhood. And I can tell you right now that Cancer moon is also affecting it," explains Psychic Saba. "Cancers in general are very patient with small children and animals. So you have people who are very sensitive to the idea of, 'Wait a minute, that's my baby,' or 'You can't touch my child.' It's that Cancer energy."
Saba also pointed out that other factors such as the fact that Aretha Franklin was a Scorpio rising may also contribute to how protective and private she was about her family life.
