- Disney is launching a new line of cloth-based face masks for the whole family, featuring some of its most iconic characters, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Frozen's Elsa and Anna, as well as Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian.
- Available in three different sizes, these cloth face masks are available for pre-order now on the ShopDisney platform.
- Proceeds of sales will benefit a medical non-profit called Medshare, which provides medical supplies and equipment to those in need.
For nearly any child (and most adults!), wearing face masks can feel scary and uncomfortable, especially for those who have never worn them before now — which is why Disney is working to make the experience just a little more magical. You can now purchase a cloth face mask featuring some of the most popular characters from the Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars, including favorites like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Elsa and Anna, and Baby Yoda.
According to an announcement from its Disney Parks' Blog, Disney will donate $1 million of the proceeds from sales to a medical non-profit organization called MedShare, an Atlanta-based nonprofit that provides medical supplies and equipment to communities around the world. Here in the United States, Disney will also donate one million face masks to families in need, distributed across all states by MedShare.
The new masks, which are sold in packs of four that are themed by character for $20, come in three different sizes; small, medium, and large. They're already being sold for pre-order on shopDisney.com, but the manufacturers say that they won't ship until June. Disney's masks are just one of the many different masks available to shoppers online.
Disney began working on their new face masks after recommendations were made by officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, asking Americans to cover their faces while in public spaces to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus. The masks are made in line with the Food and Drug Administration's latest instructions on non-surgical, non-industrial grade face masks, according to Disney's blog post.
“We realize this is a challenging time for families and wearing any type of mask can be daunting,” Edward Park, senior vice president of the Disney Store and shopDisney, said in a statement. "Our hope is that Disney’s cloth face masks featuring some of our most beloved characters will provide comfort to the families, fans and communities that are so important to us.
