KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 — Hong Kong police have taken disciplinary action against their personnel after they logged into the force's internal system to check on a woman arrested for outraging public modesty.

The 36-year-old woman and her boyfriend, 30, were nabbed after a video of them having sex on a Kai Tak residential building balcony went viral in June, The Standard reported.

The woman, who was a tenant of the flat on Muk Tai Street, was arrested on June 7 while the man was arrested on July 12 at Tsim Sha Tsui.

It was later learned that policemen not involved in the case had logged into their internal system to view the video and the force's Complaints and Internal Investigations Branch launched an enquiry after they got wind of the matter.

Investigations later found that the policemen had accessed the system to check on the video as they were curious with how the woman looked.

After investigations were completed, the policemen were given disciplinary punishment.

A source told the portal that although the policemen were disciplined, their actions would not be recorded.

The source added that there was no evidence to show the policemen had circulated the woman's image on social media platforms.
