Looking for a different way to get your soaps fix? We’ve got the solution. On September 18, Digital Spy is launching its first ever podcast, Soap Scoop, so you can stay up to date with spoilers and your favourite stars wherever you are.

The show will feature exclusive interviews with cast and crew from the UK's biggest soaps, including Alan Fletcher, Lisa Riley and Ellis Hollins, about everything from on-set secrets to personal stories.

After the interviews, hosts Sophie Dainty (Deputy Soaps Editor) and Ali Griffiths (Social Editor) will dive into the biggest upcoming storylines on Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, Coronation Street and EastEnders.

In the first episode, Coronation Street star Rob Mallard talks about his role in last year's BAFTA-nominated cervical cancer storyline, the real-world impact of soaps, and what the future holds for his character Daniel Osbourne.

During the podcast Rob also gave some insight into his friendship with former co-star Katie McGlynn, saying "She didn't warm to me when I first went, I was too over-familiar with her. But once she realised I'm not an absolute tool and we had that 'click' moment, we've been mates ever since."

Speaking a bit more about their friendship, he shared a story about how he ended up with whiplash at McGlynn’s birthday earlier this year, saying: "We'd gone up to this log cabin and there was a hot tub that was kept warm by a log burner.

"My job was to keep an eye on the log burner and I slipped on a little bit of wet grass – the logs went one way, and I went the other. I came down 'smack!' on the ground".

Later this month Emmerdale star Lisa Riley will join the podcast to give the lowdown on the latest goings on with Mandy Dingle – as well as talking about the outpouring of public support and thanks she received after her recent infertility storyline.

In October the show will include an interview with Ellis Hollins, who's played Tom Cunningham in Hollyoaks since he was 3 years old, about what it was like to grow up on the set of a soap.

Then the hosts will sit down with Alan Fletcher, who plays beloved Neighbours character Dr Karl Kennedy, to discuss his impressive tenure on the show.
