Diddy Is Batman For Halloween, Claims Warner Bros. Warned Him Away From Joker Costume

“I’m Batman.”

That’s what Diddy seemed to be saying with his Halloween costume last night, possibly thumbing his nose at what he says was a legal warning from Warner Bros. last year.

More from Deadline

“Last year, I got a bunch of emails from the studio telling me not to be the Joker anymore, that I was breaching the trademark,” Diddy begins in a video posted this morning while fanning a sheaf of papers in front of him.

“You win,” he goes on to say, “I’m not going to be the Joker this year.”

The hip-hop hall of famer also posted a video that looks to be set in Bruce Wayne’s low-ceilinged armory from Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight films. In the clip, we see what looks like the Nolan-era Tumbler Batmobile with what appears to be the Dark Knight himself perched on top. As we get closer, it becomes apparent that it is not Christian Bale in the iconic cowl, but Diddy. A series of scenes follows that looks to be inspired by the Warner Bros. movies, accompanied by what sounds a lot like elements of Hans Zimmer’s score. (Note that we see a flash of a man who seems to be Diddy dressed as the Joker in the footage, so he may not have kept that promise after all.)

There’s also a somewhat bizarre scene toward the end of the video in which Diddy, dressed as Batman, invades the office of a man who looks to be a prominent producer or studio exec (two Oscars sit nearby), roughs him up and gets an “agreement” from the man that “the strike is over.” The producer type is then seen stripped of his clothes, gagged and left unconscious in front of an office building with a sign that reads: “The strike is over! Love, The Darkest Knight.”

Diddy took his cosplay public last night, reposting video of himself walking down a crowded street in costume with the Tumbler trailing close behind him.
