'The Devil Wears Prada' Sequel Is Reportedly in Development

Alright everyone, gird your loins! The long-awaited sequel to 2006's The Devil Wears Prada might finally be in the works.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, the film's original writer, Aline Brosh McKenna, and original producer Wendy Finerman are supposedly returning to pen the script and develop the highly-anticipated followup. While no official announcements have been made as of writing, Puck broke the news and revealed that the sequel may focus on a new dynamic between Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly and Emily Blunt's Emily Charlton. The former first assistant to Miranda now runs a luxury brand that advertises with Runway, and while Miranda has remained as Editor-in-Chief of Runway after all these years, the magazine has felt the financial effects of the downfall of the publishing industry.

While it remains to be seen whether Streep and Blunt will return to reprise their roles, there's no word about Anne Hathway's Andy Sachs — the wide-eyed journalism grad who led the first film as Miranda's second assistant — making an appearance in the sequel. She recently spoke to E! in regards to the possibility of The Devil Wears Prada 2, stating, “I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen.”

Stay tuned for an official trailer and release date.
