Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t be revealing who their son’s godparents are.

The new parents released a statement via the palace today, stating that Archie Harrison will be christened on Saturday in Windsor - but the names of the godparents will remain private.

The Archbishop of Canterbury will conduct the service, which will take place in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Following the service, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will share images taken by photographer Chris Allerton.

It’s understood that only around 25 guests will be present at the service, Mail Online reports.

The Queen is not set to be among them as she has prior commitments.

Archie’s grandfather the Prince of Wales and step-grandmother the Duchess of Cornwall are both expected to attend, along with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

It’s unclear whether Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will be present at their cousin’s christening.

It’s likely that some of Princess Diana’s family will attend, as William and Harry have remained close to the Spencers. Their mother’s siblings Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer were listed in the birth announcement as having been informed of Archie’s birth.

Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland is expected to fly in from Los Angeles to attend her first grandchild’s big day.

Should Meghan and Harry share more of their son’s life?

While royal christenings have always remained private, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have allowed the media to capture their arrival with all three of their children.

Meghan and Harry gave the world its first glimpse of their newborn son, two days after his birth, during a brief photocall at Windsor Castle.

To celebrate US Mother’s Day, the Sussexes released a photo of new mum Meghan holding Archie, with just his toes visible in the Instagram post.

The public got another glimpse of the royal tot on Father’s Day, when the couple released a sepia-toned snap of Harry holding Archie in his arms.

Meghan made a surprise appearance on Saturday night as she joined Harry at the New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox baseball game at the London Stadium.
