Despite best efforts, national badminton ace Zii Jia falls to defending Olympic champion Chen Long in three sets in round of 16

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 — Malaysian men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia put up a valiant fight but eventually lost in three sets to China’s Olympic defending champion Chen Long.

Zii Jia took the first set in convincing fashion with a 21-8 scoreline before the Chinese world No. 6 took the second set 21-19 eventually racing to a 21-5 win in the third set.

Chen will meet second seed Chou Tien-chien from Chinese Taipei this Saturday at 8am local time in the quarterfinals.
