Desperate rescue efforts continue in Valencia’s flooded car parks

In Spain's Valencia region, emergency services are working hard to rescue people trapped in several disaster-struck areas, using dogs and boats in their ongoing search. Flooded underground car parks are a cause of great concern, with many people feared missing.

Military units and firefighters are working together to drain water and mud at the Bonaire shopping centre car park in Aldaia, on the outskirts of Valencia. It is the largest mall in the region and houses 5,700 parking spaces.

The search is expected to be extensive and complex, with police cordoning off the area as the Military Emergency Unit (UME) arrives at the scene.

The recent flash floods have devastated homes and businesses, leading to at least 217 deaths nationwide, with 213 of them in Valencia alone.
