Derek Jeter sells $22.5M Tampa mansion that Tom Brady was renting

It sounds like Tom Brady's on the Tampa rental market.

Derek Jeter recently sold his palatial waterfront mansion in Tampa for $22.5 million according to Smith and Associates Real Estate. The original listing price was $29 million. Brady, Gisele Bundchen and their family previously rented property from Jeter after Brady joined the Buccaneers last season.

It's not clear where Brady's family is living now, but it won't be in the roughly 22,000-square foot residence moving forward.

Jeter falls short of asking price, still sets sales record

Jeter bought the home following his Hall of Fame career with the New York Yankees in 2014 and lived in it until moving south after buying a share of the Miami Marlins in 2017. The home fell short of the $29 million asking price, but still set the record for a Tampa home purchase.

Where will Brady and Bundchen live?

The buyer's name was not made public. But apparently it's not Brady. Brady and Bundchen were reportedly close to buying a $7.5 million Tampa home in October, but Smith and Associates denied the report.

Brady and Bundchen bought a $17 million property on the Miami island of Indian Creek in December. They reportedly razed the existing property to build their own custom home. Regardless, Brady needs a place to stay in Tampa during football season. Where that is remains a mystery.

So if you were considering buying Jeter's digs, you missed your chance. But if you're looking for a glimpse into how Hall of Fame athletes and super models live, you're in luck. Here's a look at the seven-bedroom 16-bathroom home formerly owned by Jeter:
