A deputy in El Dorado County drove through the Mosquito Fire to rescue an elderly couple and their two dogs, officials said.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said the couple were stuck on the inside of the fire line in Georgetown, with their two dogs, and had no way to evacuate as their vehicle was disabled. This footage shows the deputy driving to their location as the fire jumps to both sides of the road. The couple and the dogs were rescued and are safe, the sheriff’s office said.
The Mosquito Fire covered 41,443 acres and was 10 percent contained on Sunday, according to Cal Fire.
