Nuggets star Jamal Murray helped off court after brutal knee injury in final seconds vs. Warriors

Jamal Murray had to be helped off the court late on Monday night after suffering what appeared to be a brutal left knee injury at the Chase Center.

The Denver Nuggets star went crashing to the court with just 50 seconds left in their 116-107 loss to the Golden State Warriors after his left knee gave out, which made for a scary scene in San Francisco.

"[It was a] very down locker room," Nuggets coach Michael Malone said after the game, CBS4's Michael Spencer. "Yes, we lost the game, but I think everybody's thoughts are with Jamal and hoping that he's going to be OK."

Murray drove through the lane with just less than a minute left on the clock on Monday night and made a move to the rim to try and drop in a layup.

As he planted his left leg to go up, though, his knee gave out.

Murray made it only halfway up in the air before he went sprawling to the floor under the hoop while clutching his knee and moving around clearly in pain.

Murray stayed there for several minutes before he was helped up to his feet. He refused to get into a wheelchair, and walked off the floor and into the locker room with the help of training staff.

Details about his injury are not yet known. Malone said he spoke with Murray briefly after the game, but that the team was waiting for an MRI to learn more.

"Some of the coaches said when they saw the replay it looked like he hyperextended it ... It's just an awful feeling," Malone said, via CBS4's Michael Spencer. "Keep Jamal in your thoughts and prayers and hopefully we'll get some good news."

Murray finished the night with 17 points, four assists and four rebounds. Monday night was his first game back after missing four straight games due to knee soreness.

The 24-year-old was averaging 21.3 points and 4.8 assists while shooting a career-high 48% from the field this season, his fifth in the league. He is in the first year of a new five-year, $158 million deal with the Nuggets.
