Demonstrators Protest Against Proposed Bill to Mandate COVID-19 Vaccine in New York

Protesters gathered in front of a building in Manhattan, New York City, on January 2, to protest against a proposed bill to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine across the state of New York.

Quinn Zsido filmed a video that shows a dozen demonstrators gathering in front of a building in Amsterdam Avenue and W 92nd Street.

The video shows protesters holding signs that read, “No vax mandates” and “The govt does not own you”. One protester is seen sticking up a poster that reads: “Shame on you, Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal, for attempted forced vaccinations. NYS Assembly Bill #A11179”.

Zsido told Storyful he believed the protest was sparked by Linda B. Rosenthal “green-lighting the vaccine in New York.”

According to reports, Rosenthal introduced the Assembly Bill A11179 on December 4, 2020, which would allow state officials to make the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory if not enough people voluntarily took the vaccine.

“… if public health officials determine that residents of the state are not developing sufficient immunity from covid-19, the department shall mandate vaccination for all individuals or groups of individuals who, as shown by clinical data, are proven to be safe to receive such vaccine,” the proposed bill read.
