Deion Sanders Wants NCAA to Reimburse Colorado Players After Alleged Locker Room Robbery: 'Do Something'

PEOPLE confirmed that a police report was filed regarding an an alleged theft of unspecified items from the Buffaloes' locker room

Deion Sanders has called upon the NCAA and the Rose Bowl to act following an alleged locker room theft during Colorado's game in Los Angeles on Sunday.

UCLA confirmed to PEOPLE that the school's athletic department filed a report with the Pasadena Police Department regarding an alleged robbery of unspecified items during the game between the Colorado Buffaloes and UCLA Bruins at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

UCLA's campus is located in the Westwood neighborhood, but the Bruins play their home games roughly 40 minutes east at the Pasadena stadium.

Sanders, 56, addressed the alleged incident in his post-game press conference after UCLA defeated the Colorado Buffaloes 28-16, claiming, "Our kids got robbed during the game last week. I think that's a travesty."

The Buffaloes head coach continued, "I would expect the NCAA to do something about that. This is the Rose Bowl."

"They said the granddaddy of 'em all, right? I'm sure granddaddy had some money. Grandpa should have some money to give these kids."

The NCAA declined to comment when reached by PEOPLE.

Sanders told reporters he's spoken to his players about "how to really maintain their finances," but he's "pretty sure" they "don't think about insurance at this point" in their lives during the press conference.

"I'm going to have a list made out from these young men, and I know they're going to be truthful about what they lost, so we can try and get it back for them," Sanders added.

"They may not be able to get the items back, but they should be able to reimburse them. That was unbelievable. It don't make no sense when you're out there ballin' and playing your heart out and you get robbed at the same [time]."

Addressing the NCAA specifically, Sanders said, "I hope we can do something about that," and added, "You do something about everything else. Do something about that."

The former NFL star is in his first season as the Buffaloes head coach, and his sons Shedeur, 21, and Shilo, 23, are both starters on the team. After a hot 3-0 start to the season, Colorado has cooled down, and are now 4-4.
