West Ham are ‘resigned’ to losing Declan Rice this summer if they receive an ‘appropriate’ offer for the £100m-rated star, according to reports.

The 24-year-old agreed to stay this season to captain the Hammers in the wake of Mark Noble’s retirement. But now, he is ready for a fresh challenge.

Rice’s contract expires in June 2024 and West Ham have the option to trigger a one-year extension. Nevertheless, the midfielder is ‘ready to compete for trophies.’

This is according to the Daily Mail, who claim West Ham will now ‘welcome’ offers and use that clause in negotiations by saying his contract is valid until 2025.

But, as mentioned, Rice won’t come cheap. Indeed, the London club have reportedly slapped a £100m valuation on their star man.

The England international has consistently proven he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League. So, it’s expected someone will cough up that fee.

Considering the Hammers’ poor form this term, it’s no real surprise Rice is looking to compete at a higher level next season.

Arsenal are leading heated Rice race

As previously reported by TEAMtalk, Mikel Arteta is looking to sign at least one quality midfielder this summer. Now, unsurprisingly, Arsenal are leading the race for Rice.

While Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka have been excellent for the Gunners this term, they will both by 30 by the start of next season.

With that in mind, it would be a smart move to bring in a more long term option. Given Rice is still relatively young, he could prove to be an ideal addition for Arsenal.

However, if the Premier League title chasers fall short of West Ham’s £100m valuation, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are ready to strike.

In particular, Chelsea’s interest in Rice dates back years. The midfielder began his footballing career with the Blues, but left the club as a 15-year-old.

Todd Boehly has showed this season that he isn’t afraid of spending huge sums on new signings. So, Chelsea could meet West Ham’s £100m valuation if given the opportunity.

Also, it is believed Rice would prefer to stay in London, making a switch to Arsenal or Chelsea more likely.

But, as mentioned, while West Ham feel Rice’s exit is ‘inevitable,’ they will only sell if the ‘right offer’ arrives.

For now, David Moyes’ and Rice’s focus will be on ending the season on a high, as the Hammers eye Europa Conference League success.

If they will the competition, it will be their first major trophy since 1980.
