This footage, shared with Storyful by Sean Elgin, shows damage in the Westmead area of Pinetown, an industrial suburb of Durban.
On Wednesday night, a group of more than 1,000 people descended on Westmead to loot the warehouses, local media said.
Nationwide unrest that followed the jailing of former President Jacob Zuma left at least 117 people dead and over 1,400 arrested, the South African government said on July 16. The unrest had caused billions of rands (equivalent to tens of millions of dollars) of damage, officials said. Credit: Sean Elgin via Storyful
