Debris Hits Power Lines as Hurricane Ida Rips Through Louisiana

High winds and heavy rain battered Louisiana as Hurricane Ida hit on August 29, with officials warning of significant flooding and continued tropical-storm-force winds on August 30.

Footage recorded by Vincent Waelti in Houma shows debris flying around and damaging power lines outside the Government Towers building in Houma. At one point, the strong wind gusts are seen flattening down a few trees in the parking lot.

“Well, I think it’s safe to say we got no power,” Waelti says.
