Debate Over Trans Youth Healthcare Bill Delayed as Protesters Removed From Texas Capitol

Demonstrators gathered at Texas State Capitol in Austin on Tuesday, May 2, to protest a bill that would ban gender-affirming care for trans youth in the state.

Footage by Rep Ana-Maria Ramos shows the Texas House Speaker ordering the public gallery to be cleared as protesters chanted in opposition of Senate Bill 14. Officers can be seen entering the gallery and ushering people out as well as removing banners.

Other footage posted by local reporters at the scene show an activist being tackled to the ground by officers.
