The death toll from devastating wildfires in southern Turkey had risen to eight by August 1, reports citing health officials said.

Turkey’s General Directorate of Forestry said fire crews had brought under control some 130 forest fires burning in 35 provinces over the previous six days.

Fires were continuing to burn in the coastal resort areas of Mugla and Antalya, and in Tunceli province.
