Deadly Tropical Cyclone Makes Second Landfall in Malawi

Tropical Cyclone Freddy caused flooding on its second landfall in Malawi, footage recorded on Monday, March 13, shows.

According to the World Food Programme in Malawi, a health worker was rescued after getting stranded due to floods in Nsanje, where the storm made landfall on Sunday.

Malawi Weather said the storm continued to spin over southern Malawi on Monday.

Tropical Cyclone Freddy has caused at least 27 deaths, according to Reliefweb.

The World Meteorological Organization said it appeared Freddy had set a new record for longevity, having been a named storm for 36 days, but that it was continuing to evaluate the situation. Credit: WFP Malawi via Storyful
