Deadly Flooding in Northern India Following Heavy Rain

Heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand, with at least 24 people killed by October 19, officials told ANI.

Uttarakhand recorded 200 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours to the afternoon of October 19, the State Disaster Management Secretary said.

Officials said 200 people were rescued from a resort in the state, while a group of pilgrims were also evacuated.
