Deadly fire engulfs Cambodia casino bordering Thailand

STORY: Cambodian local news outlet Fresh News has reported a death toll of at least 10 people. Reuters could not immediately confirm if there were casualties and local police, in a statement on the fire, made no mention of how many were dead or injured.

Overnight footage filmed by Cambodian broadcaster PNN TV showed a huge fire engulfing a building at the Grand Diamond City complex, a casino popular with Thai gamblers, in the border town Poipet.

The fire broke out just before midnight on Wednesday (December 28), according to local Cambodian police, who added that the fire was now under control. Police also said about 400 people were working in the casino at the time and that the cause of the fire was unconfirmed as of yet.

The governor of Sa Kaeo province on the Thai side of the border said 32 Thais were being treated in hospitals there and one had died.
