DC Studios Is Currently Developing a Film With Batman Villains Bane and Deathstroke
DC Studios is cooking up a new film, and this time, it places villains at the forefront. Variety has confirmed that DC has tapped screenwriter Matthew Orton, known for writing the script for Captain America: Brave New World, to work on the upcoming feature film that centers around Batman villains Bane and Deathstroke.
While the script is currently in the works, no director nor actors are attached to the project just yet. DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran have been vocal in the past that project do not receive a greenlight unless the screenplay is complete. There has been an obvious trend within the superhero world in entertainment where villains have become the focus. Examples of this include HBO's The Penguin as well as Disney+'s Agatha All Along and coming up next at Warner Bros. is Joker: Folie à Deux and at Sony, Venom: The Last Dance and Kraven the Hunter.
Both Bane and Deathstroke characters have appeared in previous DC adaptations. Tom Hardy famously played Bane in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises where as Joe Manganiello was previously linked to the charcter, also known as Slade Wilson, in Justice League and Zack Snyder's Justice League. There is currently no news on when the screenplay will be finished. Stay tuned for more information.
