Dazzling lights kick off Christmas season in Europe

Athens' annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony took place in the capital's main square on Tuesday (November 23) with a spectacular light and music show.

The 60,000 bulbs on the 19-metre high fir tree from Karpenissi in central Greece, were lit amidst smoke and rays of light from lamps placed on rooftops around Syntagma square.

Meanwhile, in Copenhagen, the Christmas tree at Tivoli's amusement park was lit up along with one million lights to mark the beginning of the Christmas season.
