Dayyan Eng denies making a movie about Stanley Ho
3 Jun – Chinese-American filmmaker Dayyan Eng recently clarified that he had never planned to make a film about Stanley Ho as previously reported by the media.
According to Mingpao, the "Bus 44" director released a statement on Weibo, which read, "A few days ago, I saw a photo of a young Mr. Stanley Ho on the internet, so I made a post to say that Daniel Wu is suitable to play the role of the gambling king due to their resemblance."
However, Dayyan claimed that the post was taken out of context by some irresponsible Hong Kong media, which stated that he was preparing to make a movie about the casino tycoon.
"Here I declare: We never planned to make this movie. To some Hong Kong media, please seek truth from facts, and do not make up a mess so some people misunderstand," he added.
It is noted that back on 27 May, a day after Stanley's passing, Dayyan tagged Daniel Wu in his Weibo post about Stanley Ho that read, "Come on, let's do an epic autobiographical film in the future."
When the media asked Stanley's daughter Josie Ho about the post, the singer expressed her disgust over the post, saying, " "Dad had just left, and this man publicly announced that he would like to make a film about dad. He did not inform or ask the family for consent at all."
