The toll of Hurricane Iota was still being assessed in Nicaragua on November 18, two days after it made landfall late on Monday evening on the country’s Caribbean coastline.
Iota, which has since weakened into a Tropical Depression, made landfall only 15 miles from where Hurricane Eta struck Nicaragua earlier on November 3.
Officials said at least six people had been killed in Nicaragua, but the toll may rise as many areas remain without electricity and limited communication capacity.
