Dave Bautista's "My Spy" is going straight to streaming

Sorry, Bautista, "My Spy" isn't making its theatrical release this month after all.

9 Apr – Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, action comedy "My Spy" was pushed for about a month from its 13 March release date to this 17 April in North American cinemas.

However, Deadline has brought word that the Dave Bautista-starrer will not be making a theatrical release after all this month, seeing that cinemas in the US and across the globes are still temporarily shuttered.

Instead, Amazon Studios have picked up the movie from STXFilms and MWM Studios and will be releasing it on its streaming platform, Amazon Prime.

The streaming date has yet to be confirmed.

Last month, the movie's delay in the US also affected the release in other territories – except the UK where it managed to be released on 13 March and Singapore on 12 March – as cinemas around the world instigated temporary shutdown to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

Prior to the shutdown, "My Spy" did manage to rake up USD3.1 million at the box office, as it was released in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year. It now has USD4.4 million thanks to later releases, but that is still an insignificant amount when compared against its USD18 million production budget.
