Datuk M Daud Kilau passed away at 85

19 Dec - Legendary singer Datuk M Daud Kilau has recently passed away.

The news was confirmed by son Ahmad Zaini on 18 December, saying that the singer died around 4.46pm while in treatment at the Teluk Intan Hospital in Perak.

"Dad's health has not been stable ever since he was hospitalised on 12 December due to diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. Doctor originally wanted to amputate both of his legs, but the surgery was cancelled due to his fluctuating blood pressure," he said.

The late singer, popular with songs like "Gila Judi" and "Cek Mek Molek", began his career in music after winning Bintang Radio Singapura in 1968. He was known for the langgam, traditional and dangdut genre.

He was 85.
