“Dancing for the Devil ”star Miranda Derrick says her life is in 'danger' after Netflix docuseries

"We have both been followed in our cars," Derrick says in new video.

Miranda Derrick, star of Netflix's hit docuseries Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult, says she and her husband, James "BDash" Derrick, have experienced seriously negative consequences following its release.

"I know I don't normally make this kind of content. I just wanted to be transparent and a little vulnerable with you," Derrick said. "Before this documentary, my husband and I felt safe. Now that this documentary is out, we feel like our lives have been put in danger. We have both been followed in our cars, we have received hate mail, death threats, people have been sending us messages to commit suicide, and we've been stalked."

For example, she said, "Someone said that, 'If I see you on the street, I'm going to come and get you so you better get security.' Someone also said that, 'If I see you walking on the sidewalk, I'm going to come and shove you in the trunk of my car,'" Derrick said.

In the doc, released last month, audiences see Derrick and other young dancers who perform online, with some claiming that a management company, 7M Films, which is led by a pastor from Los Angeles' Shekinah Church, controlled their lives.

According to CNN, the company has previously said that it is operated separately from the church. No charges have been filed in the case, and the accused has filed a lawsuit "claiming defamation and trade libel against several former church members."

Derrick had been estranged from her family, who had tried to separate her from the group. According to the series, they had been in communication once again, but Derrick said the documentary jeopardized that.

"I have been getting together with my family for the past couple of years, privately, to work on our relationship, to make things right, to mend what has been broken," she said. "I've been loving getting together, laughing, just enjoying each other's company. And this documentary has made it very difficult to continue doing that."

The three-part documentary series, from director Derek Doneen, Dirty Robber and WV Alternative, "exposes the diabolical tactics used by cult-like organizations to exert control over people  as well as the lengths families will go to keep their loved ones safe," according to Netflix.
