Dana White: Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington rematch coming in November at UFC 268

Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington are set to fight again, nearly two years after they first faced off. UFC president Dana White told ESPN's Brett Okamoto on Monday that the rematch is on for November at UFC 268, where Usman will defend his welterweight belt.

There's no solid date yet, and no venue has been chosen. However, White said they're targeting Madison Square Garden.

Usman and Covington first faced off in 2019 at UFC 245. The slugfest was Usman's first title defense after defeating Tyron Woodley to become the UFC welterweight champion, and the two went five tough rounds. Covington was knocked down twice in the fifth round before Usman rained punches down on him, and Covington lost via technical knockout as Usman retained his 170-pound title.

Usman, 34, is currently on a 14-match UFC winning streak, the second longest all-time behind Anderson Silva. He's fought three times since defeating Covington at UFC 245: a win over Jorge Masvidal in July 2020, a win over Gilbert Burns in February 2021, and another win over Masvidal in April 2021.

Covington has won eight of his last nine fights, with his only loss being the technical knockout to Usman at UFC 245. However, while Usman has fought three times since then, Covington, 33, has fought just once. He beat Tyron Woodley via TKO last September.

Despite being knocked down twice and barraged with punches, Covington has said that his first fight with Usman was stopped too early. Now he's got the chance to try again and break Usman's stranglehold on the welterweight belt. Judging by how Usman's fought lately, it'll be tough to do.
