Dan Stevens Joins Lily James In 20th Century Pic Inspired By Bumble’s Whitney Wolfe Herd
EXCLUSIVE: After having a busy month at the box-office with Godzilla x Kong: A New Empire and Abigail both opening, Dan Stevens is continuing to stay busy as he is set to join Lily James in the upcoming film inspired by the story of Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd, from 20th Century Studios and Ethea Entertainment.
While it’s not entirely clear who Stevens will be playing, we’re told he’s set for the part of Herd’s business partner. The untitled feature goes into production this year.

'Abigail' Review: Melissa Barrera And Dan Stevens Battle Dracula's Child In Cheeky Vampire Flick
Famously launching the online dating platform Bumble after co-founding and departing Tinder, Herd became one of the youngest self-made billionaires at age 31 when Bumble went public in 2021. While she stepped down as CEO last year, the app continues to be hugely popular amongst the single crowd.
Plot details for the film remain vague, as it’s said to be somewhat loosely inspired by Herd’s story. Rachel Lee Goldenberg will direct from her script written with Bill Parker and Kim Caramele, with James producing alongside Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay of Ethea. Gala Gordon will serve as exec producer, with Sarah Shepard overseeing the project for 20th Century Studios.
Stevens has been in the spotlight for the last four weeks starting with Legendary’s box-office hit Godzilla x Kong: A New Empire crossing the $500 million mark world wide and still climbing.
He followed that up with horror pic Abigail, which also stars Melissa Barrera and Kathryn Newton. Next up, Stevens can be seen in the Neon thriller Cuckoo, which opened to strong reviews at the Berlin Film Festival and also has the Netflix series Zero Day, which is currently filming.
He is repped by Julian Belfrage Associates and Peikoff Mahan.
