MELAKA, March 19 (Bernama) -- Damian Yeo Shen Li today announced his resignation, effective immediately, as the president of Melaka United Football Association (MUSA).
The Duyong state assemblyman took over the post when former Chief Minister Adly Zahari quit as MUSA president on Nov 1 last year.
“With today’s announcement made by Chief Minister Datuk Sulaiman Md Ali (as the new president), I hereby tender my resignation, as well as that of the executive council members I appointed, with immediate effect,” he said in his Facebook posting today.
Yeo said that during his tenure as MUSA president, he managed to settle the RM5.7 million debt incurred by the association, of which RM2.6 million was his allocation, and hoped that fans would continue to support the team.
As stipulated under the association’s constitution, Sulaiman automatically becomes MUSA president by virtue of being the Chief Minister.
