After seven years together, it would appear the "Clocks" are still running for Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin's relationship. Johnson's rep set the record straight after reports that the A-list couple split made headlines. “They are happily together," the rep commented of Johnson and Martin's romance.

Rumors started swirling after the Daily Mail reported the pair called off their engagement with claims they have "drifted apart." Speculation of a breakup arose when the Fifty Shades actress was seen walking her dog in Malibu without her emerald engagement ring earlier this month.

A source told the British publication, "Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work. They’ll always have love for each other but they’ve both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term."

The insider pointed to their busy schedules as a factor of their believed split. The singer has been on the European leg of Coldplay's Music of the Spheres world tour. Johnson reportedly did not make the trip to Germany ahead of the band's Aug. 17 and Aug. 18 shows; she has been out and about back in the States this summer doing press for her new film, Daddio.

The source explained they are both dealing with "personal priorities, passions and work commitments." They continued, "They wanted it to work but it just hasn’t, and they’ve now accepted it is best to move on."

These claims have been confirmed as false. The star couple were last seen together at Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. in June; Johnson attended to support her fiancé during Coldplay's headlining set.

The same month, a source told People the couple was "going strong" following "ups and downs" in their relationship.

Johnson and Martin first became an item in 2017 and got engaged "years ago," but decided to keep things private. They had an alleged split back in 2019, supposedly because Martin was pushing to have kids. However, they got back together soon after.

Although Johnson and Martin's relationship has prevailed, the singer's previous marriage to Gwyneth Paltrow did not. The ex-flames, who share 20-year-old daughter Apple and 18-year-old Moses, "consciously uncoupled" (as the Goop founder called it) in 2014 and finalized their divorce two years later.
